Here is a picture of part of the engraving. It is all silver/no color. The colors you see in the picture and on the right of the picture represent a reflection of other things in the room unfortunately.
Here is one of two dents.
Here is the smaller of the two dents on the other side of the horn. (Thumbsize dent.) |
USED $695 -- Vintage Pan American Baritone Horn. Very good condition. Silver. "Pan American Made in Elkhart Ind. U.S.A." with floral emblishment around name is engraved on bell. As is the rectangle that encompasses the name (it has a zigzag rectangular border, with curved left and right sides). This artwork is approximately 8-1/2" high and 5" wide at the widest point. Serial number (P32xxx) places this horn possibly between 1926 (P24900) and 1927 (P33500). This baritone is perfect if you play in a "Salvation Army" Band or for any "garage" band. This horn has a wonderful sound.
There are many small dings on bell and tubing. All supports are intact. There is a thumb-sized dent on lower tubing near bottom of horn. There is also a little larger dent on other side.
The 3 valves and slides work. Even though it has been professionally cleaned, the slides have slightly tarnished again, but can be easily cleaned for smoother removal.
Original case. Poor condition on the outside. Hinges work great as does the handle. It is just the outside ends of the case that have taken a beating.
Even though the outside is poor, you can see that the inside of the case is in much better condition. The case still protects the instrument inside. Original leather straps. |
